About Me

My name is Ming Yean, I'm from Malaysia and I'm currently a third-year mathematics PhD student at the University of Michigan. I am mainly interested in representation theory. I like problems with a computational aspect and make frequent use of computer algebra systems, such as Sage and GAP, in my work. I am advised by Charlotte Chan and Thomas Lam. You can find some of my past work here.

I previously completed Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge, taking mostly courses in number theory while there. I wrote an essay on modular symbols. Before that, I obtained my bachelor's degree in pure mathematics from Imperial College London.

I was also involved in competitive programming, having participated in the IOI and ICPC regionals.
